Stay on Topic

One of the reasons the peace movement has failed to gain traction is its inability to stay on topic. If we want to discuss Iraq then lets discuss Iraq alone. The problem is the Peace movement is directed and led by Communists who add extraneous clamor to the table.

The problem of allowing fringe groups into a protest is a familiar one. The subject comes up at Gay Pride events when the NAMBLA contingent is discussed. Even people who are otherwise favorably disposed to gays have a genuine disgust for NAMBLA. Many people object to the over the top antics at these parades and this includes many gays.

When one goes to a typical Peace protest one will see Mummia pictures, Pseudostinian flags, signs about housing, militant vegetarians and marijuana signs. The problem with the peace movement is many people have abused the protests by adding extraneous topics. What does Mummia have to do with the war in Iraq? What does poultry abuse at KFC have to do with Iraq?

The Duck and many others like to pretend that Code Pink, UPJ and ANSWER are not Communist Front Groups. A basic smell test of Code Pink shows that it was founded and led by well known Commie stooge Madea Benjamin. Many leftists see no issue with joining a communist led protest. However, the stench of class genocide and Communism
pervades these protests.

One of the great failures of the peace movement is the inability or refusal of non-Communists to set up their own events. America might respond differently to an on topic debate by people who disagree but are otherwise patriotic. The dissent of someone like Rob or Jams from the UK is an entirely different argument than the one from the Communist Duck of the Disney school of Islamic history.

The basic diference in a nutshell is debate starts with the premise there is a problem. The debate moves onto what is the best way to deal with the problem. This is why when Rob or Jams disagree with policy I treat it with respect.

There are schisms between A.N.S.W.E.R and the 'United for Peace & Justice' folks.

Further, when I was shooting the nutroot parade last Sunday, the 'truther's arrived at Dag Hammerskjold Plaza with their banner, I overheard the P&J people ask the truthers 'what the hell were they doing there?'

Cracks in the seams everywhere.

You have a point.

I had heard rumors of a schism and Code Pink was allegedly fueding with ANSWER as well. It is interesting.

That is not true at all. The demonstrations led by Communist prodded Dumbocrats to cut off funding. One of the architects of that debacle was Teddy Communist.

Probably the only demonstration that ever had any real effect was the Civil Rights March in DC in 1963.

The rest is all just theatre.

Last Saturday, I didn't see any Mummia pictures. But I saw all the rest, along with wearers of kafiyyehs (sp?). The American flags weren't handed out to the anti-war crowd until Sheehan spoke and said, "We are patriots too." Then, as soon as the march over Memorial Bridge ended, they ditched the American flags and, according to one report, turned over the portapotties. So much for caring about the environment, I guess.

BTW, "Teddy Communist" = "The Admiral of Chappaquiddick" At least, that's what some of us call him.

One example of a movement here I used to support is CND, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It is gaining prominence again as a decision is to be made about replacing the Royal Navy's small fleet of Trident subs.

Personally, I have always considered Trident to be an an utter waste of resources but I am not greatly enamoured with CND's approach. If it were concerned with the nuclear issue then fine, but key spokespersons appear to be apologists for the Iranian regime. That is beyond the pale.

Better hope the surge works Beak because if you can read between the lines of what the general's are saying, the army is going to be in very rough condition come August or September with difficulty maintaining vehicles, equipment and troop levels.

It'd be nice to have back those 6 divisions Clinton eliminated in the 1990s, wouldn't it?

Trident submarines often carry conventional weapons. They are less expensive than aircraft carriers.

However, there is no such animal as a bunker busting Cruise missle.

Mr B

Maybe we have reached a point that it is no longer so. The far leftist spin in the media has taken a huge toll. Panties on the head at Abu Gharib got more air time than beheadings.

Ducky you are a typical Democratic Liberal. Loser to the core and cant stand to see your country win anything. We didnt lose the war in Viet Nam. The Democrats in charge of the Congress lost the war in Viet Nam because they are all lily livered cowards just as the ones who had to bribe others to vote for their bill.

Why dont you go tell our toops they are losers and couldnt win.

The only problem is brainless dimwits like you and the leaders of the democratic party.

Ducky,
Justin,

We didnt lose the war in Viet Nam. The Democrats in charge of the Congress lost the war in Viet Nam.

You're both wrong. US didn't lost the Vietnam War. South Vietnam lost that war.

US lost 58,000 soldiers. The Vietnamese (both North and South) lost 1.4 million (almost all killed by other Vietnamese).

And while South Vietnam had lost the war, North Vietnam ultimately lost the peace. 15 years after 'winning' their Pyrrhic victory, North Vietnam turned capitalist and began to beg Western investors to come to their country, effectively making all their soldiers die for absolutely nothing, since the only reason for that war was that the South wanted capitalism and the North wanted Communism...

Bite you tongue / fingers!

What about the AGM-86D?

Did you mean that there are no submarine launched bunker busting cruise missiles?

Mr B

I stand corrected but Bunkerbusting is not the forte of cruise missiles. There was talk of low yeild nuclear bunker buster but that is not being developed.
