Round Three of In the Hot Seat By Popular Demand Warren

This site has had several request to do a Warren interview. If I could not get volunteers I would have asked Warren as he is family. Most people know that Warren is my closest friend in the blogosphere. In the early days it was Warren and the Beak vs an Army of anti Semitic Marxist trolls. I still pay tribute to the early days with my jokes about 167 at the end of each post. Our critics have long gone and this blog and Warrens are larger then our critics. Our critics fled as soon as Jason Pappas showed up. Communists are afraid of Libertarians for obvious reasons.

Warren is a popular blogger whose readers have one complaint, he doesn't post enough.
However, each Long Range post is an instant classic. Before we begin this interview, I will plead guilty to the rash of house pet food jokes that are sweeping our familiar blogs. I started this joke as a cheap shot at multiculturalism. However, Warren seems to have perfected my premise and thus it has even spread to the blog I am a Worm.

This is a bonus question for our readers.
Bonus ; Why has the Dog and Cat eating bit proved so popular ? My nephew was in stitches at the original Bad Eagle segment ?

Nanc I will answer all questions like Mr Beamish. I will even take questions from Ducky and Hank Snow.
However, Snow must identify himself first.

Why has the Dog and Cat eating bit proved so popular ?

Maybe because the world has become so surreal that more surrealism lightens the mood?

Just a guess.

Eating dog or cat is certainly not my preference, but survival of myself wins out every time.

Fiscal Policy
1. Are you in favor of a line item veto:"

Yes, the present version offered, where each individual line item would go back to congress for a simple majority vote. I believe that the first attempt, (later ruled unconstitutional), actually was, unconstitutional. It gave the executive branch prerogatives delegated to the legislative branch of government.

Assuming the new line item veto passes constitutional muster, I would also be in favor of a constitutional amendment that would require "riders" to be germane to the legislation to which they are attached. That way almost all "earmarks" would be attached to appropriations bills and never make it through committee.

2. Do social engineering nanny states taxes on tobacco, alcohol and gasoline disproportionately impact working rural folks:

Of course they do!

Even arguing from a "progressive" stand point, they make no sense. These type of taxes are the most 'regressive" form of any taxation. Our entire tax code needs scrapped and replaced with a "fair tax" system, (ala, Neal Boortz's The Fair Tax). Our government is criminally negligent in its waste of our money.

3, Is lack of productivity and accountability part of the escalating costs of higher Ed:

Yes definitely!

That is not to say that there aren't brilliant dedicated educators out there but our ,once, finest institutions of higher learning have become bureaucratic nightmares with overpaid "stars" on staff and as heads of departments. They are more interested in keeping their salaries and prestige high, among their "peers", than they are with education.

4. Should the taxpayer demand productivity from public employees:

Of course.

I'll even go farther. I believe that almost all, "public employees", should be replaced with private contractors! I believe this so thoroughly and as a matter of, personal principle, I have refused such jobs offered to me in the past. One working for the local levee authority and another working for the metropolitan transit system. I do/have done work for both of them as an employee of a sub-contractor.

More in a bit...

Personal
5. Have you ever driven a tractor, construction equipment or a tank:

Yes, yes, yes, and armored personnel carriers, fire trucks of all types including hook and ladder rigs and the articulated steering, (that's where the vehicle pivots in the center and the wheels don't actually "steer") foam rigs that are in common use in large airports. I've driven a specially constructed work platform, (that I believe), is still in use, for the Golden Gate Bridge, a bridge inspection unit that actually extends out, down and under a bridge to inspect the bottom side, Euclid and Terex mining equipment and I'm sure that I've forgotten a few odd things.

6. Do you own a Chainsaw:

Why; You got one you want to sell? ;^)

There aren't enough trees on my property to justify the expense and besides, if I owned one, (someone like me), would always want to borrow it.

7. Are you fond of a particular art form ? ( The Beamish school of Art is excluded as it is universally popular) Has fine art devolved from works that everyone could enjoy to Art for the sake of a detached elite:

I love music and have dabbled in all forms at one time or another. I've won a couple of web Forum competitions for my poetry, (the Muse has forsaken me for a few years), and a short story competition. I wrote a limerick about Mac, (the Campbell collaborator), that seemed to piss him off greatly, (I don't even remember it now :^). I've created intricate small wire sculptures, one of which, a spider, that my mother asked me for and has kept inside a terrarium for 30+ years. People are still startled when the see it and ask her if she knows that there's (One huge $#@% spider in there!). I sold a painting, that I did for myself, (I didn't want to sell it but I couldn't turn the guy down, I owed him a favor). I don't paint anymore.

I believe that almost everything that now passes for art, is souless and sterile. Its not judged on its artistic merit but by either the political message of armchair socialist goons or those who are incapable of seeing that the emperor has no clothes. It is the logical extension of Dadaism with the nihilistic acknowledgement replaced by a foolish and idiotic Utopian ideology. (And you know who you are!)

8. What are your views on hunting and fishing:

When I was growing up, hunting and fishing played an important part of our food supply. So much so, that I can barely stand the taste of game. I'd much rather have beef or chicken but I will eat game if its offered to me because I don't wish to offered my friends. I continued to fish for fun long after I quit hunting but I'd rather read a book than fish and fishing grew to be too much of a hassle for me to enjoy.

Basically, I don't hunt or fish because I won't eat the game. I believe its a sin to take game that my family or I won't eat. I've never trophy hunted in my life but I would like to hunt Elk someday. (I hear it tastes like beef).

I have a low opinion of trophy hunters who do not consume the game. I will not begrudge my friends and greater family taking a trophy if they consume the meat or give it to someone who truly needs it. I am also not opposed to taking animals for conservation reasons; overpopulation, overgrazing, disease control or when wild animals present a serious nuisance or danger to humans, (eco-nuts excluded a rowing grizzly bear needs).

Second Amendment
9. Should women be trained to use firearms:

Everyone that's physically capable and mentally competent should be trained in the use of firearms including medium caliber, lightweight weapons capable of fully automatic fire. (That means real "assault rifles" and not just something that looks like one). This is true of IDF and the Swiss Army and it doesn't seem to have hurt them.

10. Should gun safety and marksmanship be offered along with Driver's Ed:

Yes, in a few schools, in the south and west, gun safety and marksmanship used to be offered as an elective course. They used a .22 rifle.

Foreign Policy
11. Are you in favor of more domestic oil production to reduce dependency on hostile regimes:

Yes, the restrictions on oil exploration and extraction are purely driven by political gamesmanship and have no basis in ecological science.

Take for instance, drilling in The Gulf of Mexico. Further exploration or drilling by US companies is essentially forbidden. The eviro-weenies site fears of oil spills from hurricanes and what have you, but recent extremely violent hurricanes in the past few years have proven those fears unfounded.

Last week Mexico announced the discovery of what promises to be one of the largest oil field discoveries in years, from deep water drilling, in the Gulf.

Just because the US isn't drilling doesn't mean no one else is. The Gulf "is" in International waters. We all know how shoddy Mexico is, in environmental areas. In effect, their feeble laws aren't enforced at all.

Now, who do you want drilling in the Gulf, Mexico, (unregulated) or the US (regulation out the wazoo)!

If you say Mexico, you are clearly an anti-American, anti-Capitalist, lying $%*#, pretending to be an enviromentalist.

12. Should Foreign aid come with some responsibilities:

Responsibilities??? It ought to come with threats and action if they don't deliver what they're peddling!

Is the problem of graft and corruption being taken seriously at the State Department:

Do you mean the graft and corruption at the State Department or the graft and corruption in other countries that the State Department turns a blind eye toward?

13. Is France an ally or a foe or something in between:

Something in between and far mre dangerous in our dealings with other countries. We cannot, with any reasonable degree of certainly, determine which side of the fence they're on. I regard them as the same as the current government of Russia.

Is the problem the current Government or has it moved beyond that:

France has never been a steadfast ally unless its own short term interests were at stake! Nor a bastion of common sense. I don't look for it to change in the foreseeable future unless the Jihadis take over, then at least we will know where they stand.

I am going to interview Nanc on Monday. You are at the top of the list. However interviewing Anum Muhktar poses challenges.

I am known for being gracious and that would not be a softball interview. No doubt she is angry because I predicted her future.

Anum claims to be a Canadian Female convert. Yet on my desk I see stacks of fake marriages. The women get dumped as soon as the spouse gets status and after two or three kids.

Obviously Anum doesn't know enough
not to mess with the Beak. Obviously the fact that Islam is the common denominator in 80% of the worlds religious strife goes over her head.

Maybe we can get Ducky to sit for an interview.

Generational
14. Has the Woodstock crowd over estimated their popularity ? I was very young but clearly remember the loathing of even liberal Jewish NYC types. Drummaster was not around for that era so his knowledge is based on TV and books. What should Drummaster know about that era:

I was a 17 year old high school senior, at the time of Woodstock. I worked a full time job and knew that I would have a little over a year between the time of my graduation and my eventual induction into the Army or Marines. I didn't have time for drugs or running around on cross-country trips. It never occurred to me to go to Woodstock and I highly doubt that occurred to any of my friends although they might say otherwise at this point in time.

All of the hippies I have ever met were stupid lazy and had poor hygiene, (extremely poor)! They stank, wore the same clothes for weeks at a time and I doubt that any of them had access to a toothbrush that wasn't considered community property. Mixed among and preying upon them, were common criminals, drug dealers and users, religious and personality cultists and Marxists, sexual predators and pimps. Filling out the ranks the rest of the way were the collage drop outs and graduates that could always count on good ol' mom and dad for a remittance and couldn't hold a job, and the occasional draft dodger or deserter that hide himself in the herd. The most pitiful of all were the teenage run aways that were taken advantage of by all the others.

Sexual transmitted diseases were rampant and I firmly believe that they have mutated into the more virulent forms that we see today because of all the casual sex. Only the sex wasn't actually that casual. That's when I first saw girls selling sexual favors for money or drugs to keep their "old man", (pimp), happy.

I believe that period of time increased the mutation rate of STDs into the more virulent forms we see today.

Keep in mind that I'm not talking about what someone else told me, I was there. By nature I'm a loaner and always have been. I'm also cat curious and readily able to "fit in" with any crowd to a point that many are ready to believe I fit in better than they do. So I know the pimps, deserters, collage drop outs, thieves, drug whores, run aways, sexual predators and cultists, (including the Marxists). I tried to help those I could but, without exception, each was too tied up in the cult of self worship to do anything but try and use my compassion for there own ends.

Little has changed with them to this day. Many are dead, many disappeared. Frenchy the drug dealer and pimp in in jail serving time. I know where my younger uncle the thief is, he has a bad heart and the State won't lock him up for more than a moth at a time because the prison system would have to pay for his heart surgery. Steve and Gary are dead from overdoses of prescription drugs. Turtle, the Hells Angel is probably dead. Hell, I beat him half to death with a beer bottle after he threatened me! (If you can find them anywhere, you can see Turtle and see his name, "Turtle", listed in the credits as Turtle as Turtle, in the movies "Hell's Angels 68" and "Hell"s Angles 69". (I think those are the right years). Randy, finally got his life straight. Debbie married and screwed up someone else's life besides her own. Danny died of bone cancer 5 years ago. Carl died in a motorcycle accident in Arizona, stoned out of his mind. Susie and Dana, (sisters) disappeared, I hope they are doing well but I doubt it. Cathy is a three time looser out of jail on shock probation, my guess is she'll go down for a fourth and last time. Big head Ed, flat head Ed, the Yogi (I never heard him speak), the commune crew in Kansas and many others have disappeared from the face of the earth.

And that only leaves us with the collage drop outs and unemployed graduates. We know where they are, still protesting and marching. None of them worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell!

Tom, Charlie and I were all cuckoos in the nest. We are veterans, we lead normal lives, such as they are.

15. What were your favorite movies and TV shows from the 60's & 70's:

The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, Star Trek. Night Stalker, Night Gallery, Alfred Hichcock Presents, Hogan's Heroes, Ed Sullivan, Wagon train, Rawhide, Dobbie Gillis, Huckleberry Hound, The Flintstones, TW3 (that was the week that was), Laugh-in. The Wild Wild West, Welcome Back Kotter, Three's Company.

Movies, Papillon, the John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies, Little Big Man, Star Wars. A lot I can't think of now. The James Bond movies.

16. Do you think shows like Sanford and Son and Welcome Back Kotter could be produced today:

No way! Unless all the characters can be replaced with whites and pseudo-religious, falsely patriotic, stupid conservatives that go around insulting and showing prejudcial conduct to women and minorities...Oh, wait a minute, they've already did that with Archie Bunker!

Never mind.

Has PC hurt the final product in popular entertainment:

Yes the PC crowed don't know what's funny. They're always so worried about offending someone that they walk around like Torquemada's inquisitors with constipasion from the stick shoved up their collective butts. (pun intended)

General

17. Who is your favorite talking head

From a personality standpoint, G Gordon Liddy. He takes no prisoners!

Unfortunately, he's been off the air locally for more than a year. Laura Ingram is great but I miss the G Man.

18. Are there any current politicians you admire:

Ron Paul of Texas. I disagree with him on any number of issues but the man simply puts principle first. I don't believe he could be bought.

John Hostetller, my own congressman, for the same reasons.

Zell Miller, although you can't really call him a currant politician, for obvious reasons.

Joe Lieberman, for his political courage in facing the leadership of his own party although I have a problem with his backing of the tall, French looking presidential candidate, who also served in Vietnam.

19. Is happiness found within you or outside of you ? Can someone else make you happy or is it our own responsibility

Someone might make you feel happy or unhappy, but its "you" that is doing the feeling, not them.

No one can make you look like a fool or look stupid. (I've had plenty of practice). You have to do that to yourself.

In the same way, if you are unhappy, it comes from within. Its part of the religion of self. Its like the old joke, (I, I, I, me, me, me... But enough about me. Tell me, what do "you" think about me?).

You are responsible for your own happiness. If you are unsatisfied with your lot in life, make affirmative steps toward changing that which you do not like. You will find that it leaves little time for worrying about how happy you are. As a consequence, you will find that you are happy.

Be thankful for what you have, others have it far worse.

20. Are Anarchists crazy, creepy, stupid or dangerous:

You left out delusional, neurotic and incoherent.

21 Who is your favorite corporate mascot ie Tony the Tiger or the Pillsbury Dough Boy:

I find the Pillsbury Dough Boy to be a symbol of white oppression in racist America and the "otherness" of the white racist oppressive society that rules this country through the e-vile machinations of Bushy McChimp and Satan incarnate, Carl Belzeebub Rove.

Tony the Tiger, orange with black stripes, obviously represents multiculturalism and the goodness of natural grain products given to us by the Earth Mother, Gia. How could I not prefer him, He's
GRRRRRRRRREAT!!!

22. How does one tell honest dissent from a troll:

There are different types of trolls.

The most common is simply trying to disrupt your thread and posts anonymously a time or two and disappears. Another type will use a false identity and try to post as someone else. As you have noted in the past, their literary style, (or lack-there-of), will give away their identity.

It takes great skill for a person to hold a false identity for any length of time so either there will be logical inconsistencies in their posts or they will resort to repeating the same thing over and over, (as in JB). There is also a pathological secrecy about who they really are.

I remember one that represented himself as ex-military that had fought in an unnamed war and supported Kerry. It was obvious to me that he was lying because he didn't know squat about the military or how it works. Another represented herself as a "Native American", (you know how I hate that!). So, another "bred" and I started talking NDN stuff and she had absolutely no idea what we were talking about. She had no idea what a ghost dance was nor did she know what a contrary was even though she claimed the physical and spiritual lineage of the Lakota. (major faux pa!)

Then there are the gang bang trolls that come in packs, (167, and his alter ego "lowloader", craigy b, mark whatever his name was). They weren't true trolls but they definitely engaged in trollish if not psychotic behavior.

A few tricks, Google their screen name, Email addresses and their catch phrases in quotes, then dig through the results. You will usually find them or at least find out more information about them. There are other ways too, like comparing their ISP and URL addies in mail headers and site counters then dragging them through th "whois" data bases, but that gets to be more technical than most people that blog care to be.

I know I've told beak the story, its buried on this blog somewhere, about the pack of Trolls under the bridge" that I outed then tormented until they disappeared.

23. Did you ever expect your site to grow to its current size:

No, its not what I intended.

A dear friend of mine and mentor, (I believe she has passed, the last I heard she had an aneurysm), encouraged me to write something every day. My blog was for that purpose. Later I was encouraged by a small note from Tom Winter of Human Events Mag who wish me success with my blog. I'm still not sure what success means in this context.

I'm happy with it.

24. Is there a topic you would like to cover but haven't:

Nothing I would be comfortable with.

25. What advice would you give to a new blogger:

I'm cheating here, a C&P from the past.
Reply as often as you can to your posters even if it is only a word or two, nobody wants to be ignored.

Support your buddies, they will help liven up your blog and sometimes take your comments in new directions that you haven't thought about.

Have fun! If your blog becomes a chore you will grow to hate it.

If you need help, ask for it. You'd be surprised what your buddies know. I'm always willing to help within the time constraints of the real world.

Be patient, The written word is subject to misinterpretation even more so than in face to face communication. Ask for clarification if you think there has been a misunderstanding.

The Bonus Question!!!

Why has the Dog and Cat eating bit proved so popular:

3. Because it gruntles the disgruntled.

2. Because it scruts the inscrutable.

#1. Because it tastes Just Like Chicken !!!!
