In the hot seat with Why Palestinians Get It Wrong

Our next guest in the Hot Seat is a new blogger Why Palestinians Get It Wrong. New bloggers face an uphill fight to gain audience in a crowded marketplace. One of the reasons I do not write about Israel is that so many people do a much better job like our guest. Those with talent like our guest , MZ , Esther and Pam of Atlas Shrugged write about Israel. Those devoid of those talents do interviews and Mr Beamish themed comedy skits.

This blog started out as a comedy blog and only recently have we resumed the comedy.
I was attacked from the start by an arrogant bunch of anti semitic communists who just happen to be gay. My best friend in the blogosphere Warren and I kicked #%$ and it was a problem for months. However as soon as new friends Jason Pappas and Mr Beamish showed up the commies fled. Liberterians scare the hell out of commies , so always remember to have a few Liberterians freinds handy.

The best way to build an audience is to join a community of Bloggers. Our little family has grown into a decent sized group. Hopefully, you will visit some of their blogs and visa versa. This is a good way to promote your blog and introduce yourself.
In the prehistoric days we had a segment called the electronic bar where we would introduce bloggers to each other. One blogger Always on the Watch has grown huge and her recipie of high quality posts with wit and charm is one for all to emulate. I am
thinking of renaming this segment the Electronic Bar.

1 I have read some of your responses and the level of venom surprised me. I am used to venomous anti semitism and have dealt with it on this blog . Were you surprised at some of the nasty over the top comments ?
2 Do you read the blogs of some of the more nasty commenters ? I have read some dreadful blogs but the worst was one call Jedi Master B^&^ch from Canada. That blog
was a written by a Commie Star Wars fan. Warren and I visited that blog and just shook our heads. Have you read the blog of Janice ? It is the most incomprehensible blog I have ever seen.
3 What stategy did you use to raise the visability of your blog ?
4 Is your goal to have a steady readership, active comment board or something else ?

Zionism and other ism
5 Do you find it odd that genuine Communists and Anarchists have tried to turn Zionism, Nationalism and Patriotism into dirty words ?
6 Have you found that Anti semitism is mostly on the far left ?
7 My experience is that Jewish opponents of zionism are mostly Communist and anarchists ?

Islam
8 I have talked about the paradox of Islam. Islam encourages terrorism and violence
the violence causes investors not to create jobs. The lack of jobs breeds more terrorism and some emmigration . Why is there a lack of economic development in Muslim countries. I seldom pick up something that reads made in Syria or Algeria.
Is there an economic component to the conflict with Islam ?
9 Will you devote some future posts to the treatment of minorities under Islam ? I did a post about the government sponsored abuse and harassment of Homosexuals by the PA.
10 Is the conflict in Israel part of a much larger conflict ? Islam is the overwhelming common denominator in the worlds religious strife.

Palestinian follies

11 What is Pan Arabism and who were its proponents ?
12 Are Palestians Arabs ? The PLO charter has the words Palestinian Arab and Arab unity all over the place.
13 I look at doccuments from all over the world for a living how do two Egyptians in Gaza have a child with a Palestinian ID card born in the same city. I have also looked at people born in Nabulus whose papers read Jordanian but whose kids are born in the same city and are called Palestinian ? Is this an example of bait and switch
and the big lie ?
14 What constitutes this alleged ethnicity Palestinians speak Arabic, have the same history , religious affliations as Arabs in adjacent land. I can make a better case for a Nation of Brooklyn, Arkanstan or a Comanche nation then that of the Palestinians.
15 When did Islam and Arabs first arrive in Israel ? How much later did they arrive then the Jewish people ?
16 Jews seem to come in all races so the Zionism is racism game is a fraud ? Has the left crated new terms where it is convenient ?
17 Do other nations have a security fence for protection ? Do note Communist countries required fences to keep people from fleeing ?
18 How are gays treated by the PA ? Is being Gay in the PA a sure way to become DOA ?
19 If conditions are so bad in Israel why don't Israeli Arabs leave ?

Why Palestinians Usually Get It Wrong said...

Ok Beakerkin: Here it is!

1. I have read some of your responses and the level of venom surprised me. I am used to venomous anti semitism and have dealt with it on this blog. Were you surprised at some of the nasty over the top comments?

I am not surprised because I feel that the internet and the blog world allow one to say what they really feel and what they really mean. For example, I am really upset by how so called “peace activists” praise Rachel Corrie and I find myself referring to her as “Pancake Corrie.” I truly feel that angry about a yoing woman who entered a closed Isareli military zone to protect terrorist infrastructure. Rachel Corrie’s actions, if succesful, would lead to the deaths of many Jews and many Palestinians. So, even if it is a bit rude, I can’t help but say Pancake Corrie.

2. Do you read the blogs of some of the more nasty commenters ? I have read some dreadful blogs but the worst was one call Jedi Master from Canada. That blog
was a written by a Commie Star Wars fan. Warren and I visited that blog and just shook our heads. Have you read the blog of Janice ? It is the most incomprehensible blog I have ever seen.

Yes, Janice is a joke. But I really don’t need to read the anti-Semitic blogs because they are usually just spewing the Jewish hate pritned in the Guardian, the BBC, and other anti Israel sources. I do post a lot on anti-Israel sites because I want these folks responding to my blog. I truly want to know how they feel on the issues. But so far I have found that many who are pro-Palestinian do not want to discuss things, only call names. It is easy to call me a Zionist pig, but hard for them to refute my posts.

3. What stategy did you use to raise the visability of your blog ?

I posted a lot on other people’s blogs.

4. Is your goal to have a steady readership, active comment board or something else ?

My goal is to have readers come to my blog on a regular basis to read about big topics, under reproted topics, and to be surprised with quotes and discussion from books written by Ariel Sharon, Ben-Gurion, and others. For example, I am the only person I can find who is mentioning that the recent permanent ceasefire by the Basques occurred because the world did not accept their terrorism. The world needs to treat the Palestinians in the same way. No one else has made that connection yet.

Zionism and other ism
5. Do you find it odd that genuine Communists and Anarchists have tried to turn Zionism, Nationalism and Patriotism into dirty words?

To be honest, most of the Jews I know, many of whom strongly support Israel, feel that Zionism is a bad word. That makes me sad because they see Zionists as fanatics. And to be honest, I am beginning to feel that the word Zionism is not necessary. Why should Jews have to continually remind folks that Israel is allowed? I have not heard ANYONE say that coutnries like Sudan or Ruwanda should be abolished. But by using the term Zionism, supporters of Israel like you and I might be actually allowing others to assume that being opposed to Israel is reasonable and acceptable.

6. Have you found that Anti-semitism is mostly on the far left?

Yes, and that is very very sad. It seems that anti-Semitism is accepted from the left but not from the right. If the right says that Jews rule the world they are denounced, when the left say it, it is considered hate speech.

7. My experience is that Jewish opponents of zionism are mostly Communist and anarchists ?

From where I sit, I totally disagree. There are far more lefties in the US than communists and anarchists. In New York City and other liberal circles, it is almost fashionable to hate Israel. The left likes an underdog and they don’t see Israel as an underdog.

8. I have talked about the paradox of Islam. Islam encourages terrorism and violence
the violence causes investors not to create jobs. The lack of jobs breeds more terrorism and some emmigration . Why is there a lack of economic development in Muslim countries. I seldom pick up something that reads made in Syria or Algeria. Is there an economic component to the conflict with Islam?

I am comfortable saying that many people who practice Islam have shit governments that do not do nearly enough to provide jobs, hope, and a productive future to their people. I recall a UN study done a few years ago that found that Spain prints more books in a year than all of the Arab and Muslim coutnries in the world have printed in all of modern times. That is scary. The study was conducted by an all Arab group of researchers, so one can’t realistically claim anti-Muslim bias.

9. Will you devote some future posts to the treatment of minorities under Islam? I did a post about the government sponsored abuse and harassment of Homosexuals by the PA.

Perhaps, but that will take some research. For example, in Jordan Jews are not allowed to be citizens and that is a great story. Before devoting an entire post to the topic, I would want to research other coutnries to know their specific citizen laws as well.

10 . Is the conflict in Israel part of a much larger conflict ? Islam is the overwhelming common denominator in the worlds religious strife.

I think the conflict in Israel is very complicated and comes from Arab and Muslim pride, true intolerance, religious convinctions, anti-Semitism, a genuine feeling that the Arabs have been screwed by the creation of Israel, massive state sponsored propaganda to distract Arabs and Muslims from the faults of their own countries, and most disturbingly, the continued support of terrorsim by the UN and other organizations. Crap films like Munich and situations such as the UN and EU giving Hamas 78 million dollars last week create acceptance of terror. Why should Palestinians feel they are wrong if the world keeps telling them otherwise?

Palestinian follies

11. What is Pan Arabism and who were its proponents ?

Well, that is a long, long story. A good place to dig in is to read Rightous Victems by Benny Morris and to focus on Abdul Nasser of Egypt and his dream of Pan Arabism. With Arabs killing each other all over the Middle East, I do not have much faith in Pan Arabism catching on.

12. Are Palestians Arabs ? The PLO charter has the words Palestinian Arab and Arab unity all over the place.

I have never heard a Palestinian viewpoint that suggested that Palestinians are not Arabs.

13. I look at doccuments from all over the world for a living how do two Egyptians in Gaza have a child with a Palestinian ID card born in the same city. I have also looked at people born in Nabulus whose papers read Jordanian but whose kids are born in the same city and are called Palestinian ? Is this an example of bait and switch and the big lie?

Basically, the UN has created a Palestinian refugee crisis. For example, I will quote from a Wall St. Journal opinion piece at
http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=105001943

“The U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees began operation in 1950. The establishment of Israel, and its simultaneous invasion by five Arab states, resulted in the creation of approximately 600,000 Palestinian refugees. An equivalent number of Jews fled their homes in Iraq, Egypt, Yemen and other Arab countries, and settled in Israel… As it is, UNRWA and the Arab League hold Palestinian refugees in limbo. UNRWA operates 27 refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza, and another 32 camps in neighboring Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. It counts nearly four million Palestinians as refugees, including those whose grandparents never saw Palestine. (If U.N. High Commission for Refugees criteria are applied, the figure is significantly lower.) In 2001 alone, UNRWA spent $310 million on the camps.”

14. What constitutes this alleged ethnicity Palestinians speak Arabic, have the same history , religious affliations as Arabs in adjacent land. I can make a better case for a Nation of Brooklyn, Arkanstan or a Comanche nation then that of the Palestinians.

Well, we may disagree here. I do believe that the Arabs living in Gaza, the West Bank, and what is now Israel have the right to call themselves Palestinians. But Palestinians certainly do not have this so called “right of return.” The Palestinian people refused statehood many times. They need to accept their choices and their history of bad decisions.

I feel that as a strategy, it is not a good choice to play the “Palestinians don’t exist” card. While many arguments can be made to support it, saying that they don’t exist is just giving the other side way too much fuel for their public relations campaigns.

15. When did Islam and Arabs first arrive in Israel ? How much later did they arrive then the Jewish people?

In my opinion, both people have claims to the land. When you see an archeological site in Israel you see layers and layers of history. Some Jewish, some Islamic, some Christian. The point that I always come back to is that Israel has been consistently willing to share the land. Israel certainly did not approve of the division that the UN created in 1947, but they accepted the Jewish state because they wanted to live in peace with their Arab neighbors. Arabs refused to accept both Israel and Palestine. Total rejectionism.

16. Jews seem to come in all races so the Zionism is racism game is a fraud ? Has the left created new terms where it is convenient?

I think the left speaks in a lot of code and uses a lot of word gamess to express anti-Semitism. For example, a lefty may say, “When Israel gets hit by a suicide bomber it is absoutely terrorsim, but we also have to consider that responses to terrorism are also brutal and fall within the terror framewrok.” This is code for there being a moral equivalency between Israel’s right to self defense and Palestinian terrorsim.

17. Do other nations have a security fence for protection ? Do note Communist countries required fences to keep people from fleeing ?

Yes, America and Ireland to name two. Ireland has something like 20 or more “peace walls” (not barriers) built to separate Catholics and Protestants.

18. How are gays treated by the PA ? Is being Gay in the PA a sure way to become DOA?

Some have reported that sodomy is punishable by ten years in jail by the Palestinian Authority. Israel is a singnaory of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees covenant of 1951, which guarantees asylum to those persecuted due to sexual orientation. Israel has granted asylum to many gay Palestinians. In 2002, the BBC estimated that about 300 Palestinian gays were living in secret in Israel. It is generally reported that Palestinian society as a whole is intolerant and violent towards gays. And of course, Israel has gay rights parades in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

19. If conditions are so bad in Israel why don't Israeli Arabs leave?

Israeli Arabs seemed to have tried, by and large, to stay out of the violence that errupted in 2000 when Palestinians used Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount as an excuse to commit violence. In fact, after Oslo many Palestinians in Jerusalem were offered Israeli or Palestinian identity cards and overwhelmingly chose Israeli identity cards.

20. Who are your favorite authors ? Have you read Bat Yeor?

I do not know Bat Yeor but will check him out. Honest, favorite author is Hemingway.

21. Name your favorite movies ?

Original Star Wars. The Royal Tenenbaums.

22 Have you ever shot pool or played ping pong?

I am more of a chess player, but have played plenty of pool and ping pong.

23. Do you have a favorite painter?

Not really, but Jackson Pollack was fun.

24. Who would you like to see be the next president?

Hmm, New Gingrich is really smart. John McCain too.

25. Do people on the far left seem to be in a perpetual temper tantrum?
Yes, but so did the right when they were out of power during the Clinton years. Both sides can be babies.

My question for exerpienced bloggers is this: What are the best ten blogs that discuss Israel and politics?

EXCELLENT INTERVIEW, beak. kudos. you have started something big. best to you. i've learned more from madze than any other - and if you have a question, he answers promptly. he doesn't try to back anybody into a corner and is quite the gentleman. elections are day after tomorrow, so i know he will have his passion slip on come morning.

I agree with nanc - excellent interview.

beakerkin said...

Nanc is correct the Mad Zionist has an excellent blog. He has a fun persona and is a good sport.

Pam of Atlas Shrugged has an excellent cutting edge blog that should be required reading.

Outside the Blogway also has outstanding pro Israel content.

A note of disagreement Palestinians have zero claim to any
ethnicity. The notion of a distinct Palestinian people is as
absurd as a nation of Brooklyn.
Arabs have 22 states allready and
this is the greatest lie of the century.

Arabs invaded Israel 1400 years ago and are not indigenous . They
spread a Jim Crow culture and brutalized a host of indigenous people including the Jews.

Those who start with the absurd topic of colonialism should look at Arab history. Islamocolonialism is more evil then its Western coralary because they are still on a variety of land that is not theirs. Moreover, the Arab invaders still opress many indegenous people outside Israel.

We agree to disagree on this topic.

The Arabs allready have a series of defacto ethnically cleansed realestate that is not theirs. Lets see the CIA fact book for India and Pakistan. Even when land for Peace is offered Muslims stay and create cleansed societies. The difference between India and Pakistan speaks vollumes. India is rightly becoming a world power. Pakistan produces nothing but emigrants.

The intransigence of Islam is a global problem not limited to Israel.

MZ is indeed lurking. Nice interview. Though I might not agree with every answer, I do like to see fellow Zionists out there.

Nanc, I'm typing out Part 2 of my series on the Harvard blood libel, but when I'm done rest assured it will be all Israel politics. I pray Benny Elon and the National Union does well.

Of course, if Debra Lafave gets in the news again...

Israel is but one of a couple dozen or so countries that actually do have a right to exist.

Most countries have never fought a war for their independent, sovereign existence and survived, the prerequisite for having a "right to exist" in the Beamish foriegn policy manual.

Beakerkin,

Thanks again! You have provided my blog with a grat opportunity. I want to clear up one response in which I was sloppy. I meant to write:

6. Have you found that Anti-semitism is mostly on the far left?

Yes, and that is very very sad. It seems that anti-Semitism is accepted from the left but not from the right. If the right says that Jews rule the world they are denounced, when the left say it, it is NOT considered hate speech. Lefties get away with hate speech and anti-Semitism.

See if you can talk Felis into a link. His blog sends more trafic to this one and broadens your readership.

Anum found me and it is unclear how she ended up here ? She does appear on Jason's , Esther's and American Crusader's blogs and just stumbled into our group.

I do not mind her and the Jihadi Toy company is a good bit.

Looks like your buddy "Why The Palestinians Usually Get It Wrong" has already bitten the dust, his blog has already dissapeared. Too much blog comment spamming, WTPUGIW?
