My view of Osama.

Osama bin Ladden is a meglomaniac and any historian knows that is hardly unique. Every generation or so we have them. They form a cult of personality spread death and destruction. Then they go into histories dustbgin of failures appreciated by nobody . The sole exception are the menatly ill progressives who keep making excuses for Communism like 167.

Osama is unique in that he has fused an odd mixture 1/3 meglomania, 1/3 religious fervor and 1/3 marketing 1001. These high profile attacks serve no purpose otnher then a sick attemp at brand recognition. Lives are wasted as Osama leaveshis calling card.

We have two options ignore him but this did not work in the Clinton years. The other option is to turn up the heat and make life a living hell. Building Iraq is a goods start but it is time to turn up the heat. There are other fronts in this war and we should aid Russia, India , China and the Philipinnes in their battle. We should also arm Kurdish freedom fighters in Iran and Syria. The Kurds are our allies. If we turn up the heat there is a good probability that someone will turn on Bin Ladden.

Iraq and Afghanistan are only local battles in a wider war. Osama has ties to the Chechens, Kashmiri and Philipinno terrorists so lets flush them out. The stakes are just too high.

Study how the United States dealt with the Mexican terrorist Pancho Villa.

Come to think of it, General Pershing, the hero of that war, had some choice words (and tactics) to deal with the Islamic terrorists of the southern Phillipines.

Something about letting one survive to tell his brothers the Americans had executed his comrades and buried their bodies in pig carcasses.

I'm up for making his life a living hell.

Mr. Beamish,
I remember that part about pig carcasses.

How does that compare to Gitmo? {sarcasm]

Beak,
Ignoring a mass murderer never works. He doesn't just "go away."

Let's see:

1915: Islamic juramentados in the Phillipines jihading against civilian Christians are rounded up, executed, and placed in mass graves with swine entrails to defile their bodies denying them, under Muslim belief, a place in heaven.

2005: Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq jihading against democratic efforts are rounded up, placed in a camp on a tropical Caribbean island, fed lemon chicken and rice pilaf and are allowed to pray towards Mecca five times a day while US soldiers wear rubber gloves pretending to be too unholy to touch a Koran.

General Pershing is rolling in his grave.

Mr. Beamish,
Was there an outcry in 1915? I rather imagine that the anarchists cried "Foul!" But then, along came World War I and the flu pandemic. And of course, there were no Durbins boo-hooing, nor was there cable/satellite TV or the Internet through which to rapidly spread their inanities.

PS: Sacco and Vanzetti? I don't recall that they were protesting Pershing's mistreatment of Muslims [sarcasm].

Near Fort Meyer, here in Northern Virginia, we have Pershing Drive. Maybe I'll cruise down there tomorrow, in his honor for proper treatment of jihadomaniacs.

More than likely, that "Pershing Drive" is actually named for him. His life and career make him one of the most fascinating participants in American military history. The historical names that pop up as contemporaries in his biography read like a who's who of bad mofos.

Just noticed another typo... damn I'm doing that alot today. I said "1915" when I meant "1905"

All this does is spread forces thinner and give the enemy more chances to attack. These are bush fires that can be put out later.

Increasing the vicousness is possible step forward, but it will have to progress well past pig skin burials. Also dressing them like a sausage will not do wonders with Islamic allies.

How about America threatens their sources of funding? Leans heavily on the new king, puts the fear of God into him.

Unaha-Closp,
I tried to comment at your blog, but comments are only allowed from team members. You might want to change that restriction--if you want comments, that is.

UC,
I have to admit that I don't have a lot of regard for some of those termed "America's allies."

The funding of terrorists won't be effectively dealt with until the Saudi connections are exposed.
