Normal Service Restored on Wed

The visit of Rav Roov and his wife coincided with knocking out the phone lines. For reasons I do not fully grasp every time she visits something gets broken. I find things in odd places like the cordless phone in the dryer.

Funny line yesterday, a woman says officer you do not grasp what it feels like to wait five hours. I reminded her I have waited for two months and have one more left in that hell. Whatever, we are doing there it is clearly not customer service. Yesterday was the worst day by far and the public was overwhelmed. Today is my friend Martha's last day. What a sad place for an honored career spanning three decades to come to an end. I will miss her greatly, but the thousands of people she helped will be better for her service.

Obama has a way of pissing off even those who support him. One of the few places in America he has support is among Federal workers ( not me). Even his fervent supporters were running for cover yesterday as he announced a Federal pay freeze. Of course none of this would be needed if he merely announced buyouts. This would be a long term answer and get many expensive people into retirement who are eligible and are looking to leave anyway. I do not believe contractual step increases are frozen and this refers to the COLA. Eventually, the United States is going to face what workers in the UK faced. On a human level it is sad to see someone like Jams get the budget axe after 20 years. However, in time he should still get some sort of pension
down the road.

I will likely spend a four day weekend with the Tranquil Sea and the Sprite. The Spite and the Little Maltese seem most bothered everytime I depart. Normally, I look forward to going home but I miss her as well. I have always wanted to go to the Bronx Zoo in Winter and perhaps I will do that then.

When I was a child, I had a friend like that! Brenda broke my toy piano, and that took some doing.

If Rav Roove's wife is putting things in weird places, she may be showing early signs of dementia. Jus' sayin'.

Actually, freezing federal pay, particularly at high grades, isn't a bad idea. Such a step would certainly curtain inflation in the D.C. area.

Beak, why not just fire a bunch of you?

You're an experienced Officer so it shouldn't be a problem finding work with Wikileaks.

I totally feel your pain everytime I read about the number of off days you get to schedule yourself and vacations you get to take. ;)

Duncy

I was one of the officers nominated for a bonus. It will likely be small but that should give you a clue.

Mr B

I get around 4 weeks vacation. I schedule a day here and there. As far as sick hours I have close to 400 and roughly 240 vacation hours. In fact I tend to use little or no vacation.

When I had a bad case of the flu the boss told me to sit at home for three days. The previous boss claimed I abused sick hours. How one does this and has over three hundred is unknown.

My step increase is part of my negotiated package. A smarter idea would be a hiring freeze

By all means... a "hiring" freeze. Just what the Beltway Bandits LOVE to hear!
