Interesting Night

I had an interesting and pleasant night with the Tranquil Sea and the Sprite. I do not know what is in the cake that I am taking to work as it weighs a ton. It is some type of rum cake that tastes good but is quite heavy.

The Sprite wants to meet Rav Roov. I do not think at seven she is old enough for such a meeting. He is a decent sort, but as he is very religious and different from myself
too many questions would need to be answered. It is something that I will have to do at a later date.

Beak, are you sure it wasn't a fruitcake?

Dear Beak,

I had a troubling evening and since you are an officer with serious pull in the Homeland Security dept. I hope you will assist me this time.

I spent a good deal of time in the new wing at the museum of fine arts and was impressed by the museums presentation of our American art history. It was shocking to discover what had been in storage due to insufficient exhibit space.

What shocked me was the number of Muslim families in attendance. They must have been collecting intelligence for an attack!
This was a members only evening and I have no idea why Muslims would be members of the fine arts if they weren't planning an attack on our art history. Think of the symbolic value.

I have contacted admissions and requested all Muslims be screened and denied membership. I'm sure you agree and this time you will assist me in this important mission. After all, you are an officer.

Thank you,
Ducky

I thought of you at the museum last night, Beak.

Among the works that the new wing has displayed is a group of trompe l'oeil painting.

The curator's placement was intriguing. One work was John Peto's "Poor Man's Store". It's a small weathered window displaying notions and penny candy open to the street. This was next to William Harnett's "Composition with Violin" which is a collection of leisure items that would be found in a wealthy family's parlor.

The difference was obvious and I thought of your famous art lesson, "Nobody wants to look at objects. it's boring." Unfortunately it reinforces my belief that right wingers have consciously shut down their thought process. Although I must say you never challenge the theory.

So long as they only blew up the Islamic Art wing of the Gardner Museum, there'd be no real loss to world culture.

And if it were true that the Islamic patrons were seeking to donate a suicide vest to the collection, and explode it, I think it might be useful if the museum curators were to simply coat the remains of the victims and charred building in resin and preserve THAT scene for posterity. At least in that way, the "true" contribution of Islam to world art would thereby be best preserved... instead of the typical offensive stencilling of symmetrical gand graffiti patterns on conquered Christian churches and Hindu temples...

... does that include the Taj Mahal or are you too stupid to know its Isamic?

The Taj Nahal is NOT Islamic, Gawd I hate when people do that.

Duncy

I do not do touristy things on vacation. I spend boots on the ground time in unlikely places. I visited DC numerous times but never
bothered with the White House or Washington's monument.

I want the folks in DC to create a communist genocide museum similar to the Holocaust museum.

Speedy G: Isn't Ducky's ignorance of history absolutely amazing. He doesn't know the difference between a Church, Temple and a mausoleum.

I guess Ducky being a lefty is too stupid to know the difference between a Mosque and a Mausoleum or a Tomb. I would hate to hear his history of the Hagia Sophia.

Way to go Ducky keep your ignorance shining through.

---------------------

That was the quote I was replying to, Sluggish G, your general ignorance of world culture. I do hope you go further and study Mughal architecture and Andalusian and Persian ... its a big world.

You might also take notice that the Muslims did not destroy churches, unlike say the reformation and counter reformation, the civil wars in Japan before the Shogunate, the Mogul invasion of what's now Iraq ... it goes on. Muslim conquerors have been some of the more benign but I'm sure you're short sighted enough to assume they were the only conquerors in history.

However, Islamic art is a little weak at the Gardner and the Fine Arts, for once there's a good reason to visit New York and check out the collection at the Met.

Keep studying sluggish
