Interesting Letter

I read the letter of Noman Benotman from a link at Harry's Place. Had the folks in CAIR
displayed the frankness and candor of this correspondence the American Muslim community
would not be describing an atmosphere of hate.

The letter written is from a former fighter who spent time with Bin Ladden in Sudan and Afhanistan. It hits some of the same themes that the CIP has been saying for years
unequivocally. Terrorism hurts Islam far worse than bigots ever could.

What is perhaps more shocking is that Mullah Omar may not have known about 9-11 before it took place. Also there may have been those in Al Queda who wanted to avoid provoking the USA for fear it would respond aggressively. If this is true it is very interesting.

Well look at it this way, Speedy. Muhammad is confirmed in the archaeological record.

There is absolutely no record of King David. None, nada, zilch.

Beak, an informative article on Chavez

I saw the article referenced elsewhere. Even in Cuba the government grasps the excesses of communism better than the Duck.

Duncy

A loon who collaborates with Oliver Stone has zero credibility. People vote with their feet and Chavez is toast.

Contra time

<a href="http://www.aish.com/jw/j/48961251.html>Really?</a>

While the record of King David is fairly well established and bolstered even today with new archeological findings in Jerusalem, we can dismiss Ducky's anti-Semitic riffs as typical leftist ignorance of history.

Clever substitution there Ducky, for your usual more vocal hatreds.

What's the matter Ducky? Did the laundromat forget to martinize your Hakenkreuz armband?

For example, in May the UN Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) found that Venezuela had reduced inequality by more than any other country in Latin America from 2002-2008, ending up with the most equal income distribution in the region. This has yet to be mentioned by the major international press.

A distribution function which approaches ZERO is VERY equalizing!

Chavez's biggest hero Castro had just dumped the Communist government for Private Industry.

Hmmmmmmm wonder if Ducky can still tout how great things are in Cuba?

Now Beamish, there are a couple of steles that contain the word "David". They are hardly confirmation of the biblical David.

Nothing has been found which can be dated to the reign of David who remains mythical.

Now call the archaeological record anti-Semitic, your dumb enough for that, but it all stands up about as well as most of the O.T, which isn't very well.

Now go listen to some metal and whatever dipstick vocalist with a range that can barely cover a pentatonic scale is in vogue. Metal rots the mind.

There is an actual ringtone of that exchange. The Duck thinks things are peachy in the Crack den
kingdom.

Mr B

I was aware of the discoveries.
Commies like the Duck who continue
to obsess over fake ethnicities like Pseudostinians have been playing this game with Israel's history for political reasons. The Duck is well aware that the archealogical record shows a Jewish
kingdom and zero connection between
Phillistines and Pseudostinians .
This malfeasence is another example
of why commies should not be employed outside of fast food windows.

Ducky,

I must remind you that art, history, economics, philosophy, archeology, science, and heterosexuality are not your expertise.

There is more physical archeological evidence for the history recorded in the Old Testament, David included, than there is of both William Shakespeare and Plato combined.

For God's sake, man, leave your fish bowl once in a while.

The Moabite stele and the stele of Tel Dan both specifically mention "The House of David" meaning a lineage of kings descended from David. Coincidentally, the kings mentioned in these steles' are also mentioned as David's descendants in several Old Testament passages. There is a reason why the oldest section of Jerusalem as has always been traditionally known as "The City of David"

I'm not an archaeologist by training but I do attend some workshops and symposia, so I know people who have worked in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Turkey. Today I had an opportunity to ask some of these folks about whether David was a real king or simply Jewish mythology. I knew the answer but wanted to see the reaction. This drew a bit of snickering.

As far as the archeological record lacking, David was a conqueror, not a builder so there would have been few "monuments" to find. Furthermore, most sites dating to David's time have been razed and built over many times in history. Finally only about 1% or so of the potential Davidic sites have had any extensive archaeological investigation.

A single Clovis point found next to mastodon bones in 1979 is all it took to convince archaeologists and paleontologists that humans and mastodons co-existed in North America. Since then, a couple of mastodon bones have turned up with cut marks from butchering. Not an abundance of evidence, but clear evidence nonetheless.

Moral: Be cautious when trying to make a contemporary political point through the archaeological record or a supposed lack of it.
