A special note

Long term readers know I am a survivor of the WTC 93 blast and an eye witness to 9-11. The anniversary of the blast in 1993 is approaching and I may do a special post on the subject. The 1993 blast has been forgotten in time by most except for NYers like my Jason, UI and myself and some of you.

Beak,
I'm interested in anything you have to say on this topic.

I confess that, at the time, I didn't pay much attention to WTC 93.

We're almost to the point we can make "This Day in Global Islamic Terrorism" calendars.

For me, that blast signified the big change in our world, for that was the day the antichrist began to walk the earth.

The Pentagon on 9/11 is what hits me hardest.

Steve,
At the time of the 1993 attack, I was busy with caregiving my father. I had family matters on my mind. As an only child, the joy of taking care of him was my role.

My father passed away in 1998. I'm so glad that he didn't live to see the 2001 attacks.

It's also the 11th anniversary of my being injured in a terror attack.

I too didn't take as much notice of the 1993 bombing as I should. As for 9/11 I looked on in horror from across the Atlantic as the events of the day unfurled. It was only a few days later when I found out that someone I was at school with was one of the British dead on that day.

I did not really know Mick Cunningham well - he was in the year above me - but putting a face to one of the victims did make it a little more personal. I know that probably sounds a little trite compared to the loss sufered by so may people on that day.

Steve,

I have a childhood friend who's older brother was killed in the bombing of the Marines barracks in Beirut.

My oldest brother served on a destroyer that was relieved by the USS Cole a day before the attack.

Too many attacks on the US military by Islamic terrorists have gone unanswered.

We still owe Iran twelve seperate ass whoopins for each of Hezbollah's attacks on Americans since 1983, not to mention another one for the hostage crisis and another one for lookin at us funny, without permission.

I was uninjured and had to be told of the events by my coworkers. I thought it was an industrial accident.

Jams, AOW, Mr B

Even someone like myself who was there did not take the event as seriously as we should have.

Being in the International Business community I lost many good friends in the 9/11 attack.

I dont think any of us took the 93 attack as seriously as we should have and it is very evident that our government did not take it as serious as they should have.

In all honesty our government has not taken 9/11 as seriously as they should have. Living in Texas all I have to do is look to our Border to see just how lax it has become.

It would seem we have sacrificed American Values to placate the Corporate bottom line.

Our government has now deemed that we should allow not only illegals in enmass but we are poised to allow hundreds of thousands of mexican trucks to cross our understaffed over loaded border crossings. These trucks will be driven by mexican drivers who do not have to meet the same standards as our U.S. truckers.

Not only will U.S. drivers be at risk with these trucks on the highways but, I guess it will take a 40' bomb going off here in Dallas or a foriegn truck and driver (from who knows where)winding up in New York and going off before the Government and people decide this was not a good idea.

Nothing sets us up as weak more than unanswered attacks.

Beak,

We Americans have the ability to tell ourselves, "This is only a one-time thing, a fluke. Everything's going to be okay."

Justin-Amen to that! That is why I left the republican party, they have sold us out as thoroughly as the dhimmicrats!
And for what?
I saw some pictures posted at another site, of the mess on the smuggler trails! My Dear Lord Above, that is a disgrace and shame! But is there any impetus to DO ANYTHING? NO, WE HAVE LOST THE WILL!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Today is the 14th anniversary of 1993's bombings in NYC.......

muse...what terror attack were you in?

jams...I'm so sorry about your friend...it does help/hurt to put a face on it, doesn't it.

always on watch two...couldn't agree with you more about fathers...I often feel the only reason I could be happy my dad died in '94 is that he didn't see 2001. He was the type of guy who was humiliated because he couldn't go into WWII due to three bouts of serious rheumatic fever...told me he'd be embarassed to walk around Troy, NY, his hometown, knowing people must wonder why someone so young and healthy LOOKING wasn't doing his bit.. what a great guy.

I heard from Big Bubba today. He is alive and well.

The military was funny in those days. My grandfather was a very experienced infantry man in Poland.
They decided he was to be in the Navy because of something to do with him being a carpenter. Larger ships still had wooden decking.

They picked up some type of heart murmur and sent him home.
