I'm asking for your insights here.
Do you remember a while back when I asked about anti-Semitism? Well, just today I was listening to the audio version of Kenneth Timmerman's "Preachers of Hate: Islam and the War on America" and came upon some information which helped me to understand I think).
Timmerman asserts that after World War II, the left became anti-Semitic. He also asserts that the far left and the far right have one thing in common: hatred of Jews. In school, I was not taught this information; I was taught that the far right (Nazism) hates the Jews, but that the far left (Communism) does not. Was I misled?
Timmerman also points out that the blame-America-first crowd and the anti-Semites have taken over the universities. He cites several examples to support that assertion.
Do you agree with Timmerman's claims as I've explained them? Seems to make some sense to me, though I still don't understand why anti-Semitism is so attractive to so many people. Color me "stupid Christian," I guess.
PS: What got me so interested in this anti-Semitic movement is something that popped up in a comment left on your blog. A leftist called you a Nazi! A Jew is a Nazi? According to Timmerman, "Nazi" is a common epithet applied to many who disgree with leftism. Also true?

The left has always been anti-religious and (particularity) anti-Semitic going back to the writings of Marx.
In his essay "On the Jewish Question", Marx said:
"We recognize in Judaism, therefore, a general anti-social element of the present time, an element which through historical development to which in this harmful respect the Jews have zealously contributed has been brought to its present high level, at which it must necessarily begin to disintegrate.
In the final analysis, the emancipation of the Jews is the emancipation of mankind from Judaism."
He proposed this "emancipation" through the means of removal of the religion. We can see where this leads. Any religious Jew would, needs must, be removed also.
Communism may be tolerant of secular Jews but demands ideological purity. The Nazis believed in racial and ideological purity.
The socialist component of Nazism has always been played down but it is there none the less.
When I told 147 that, the only difference between Nazis and Commies was the color of the arm band, you might have noticed that he didn't reply with anything substansive. His reply was that Commie scholars would disagree. In truth they are just slightly different forms of totalitarian ideologies. Both promise a paradise on earth. one ruled by the racially pure Aryan "New Man", and the other, the ideologically pure Communist "New Man".
The whole notion of a Left/Right division with the Communists on one end and the Nazis on the other is a load of crap. They actually rest side by side on that scale as competing ideologies.

The worker has a claim to a living standard that corresponds to what he produces. We have no intention of begging for that right. Incorporating him in the state organism is not only a critical matter for him, but for the whole nation. The question is larger than the eight-hour day. It is a matter of forming a new state consciousness that includes every productive citizen. Since the political powers of the day are neither willing nor able to create such a situation, socialism must be fought for. It is a fighting slogan both inwardly and outwardly. It is aimed domestically at the bourgeois parties and Marxism at the same time, because both are sworn enemies of the coming workers' state. It is directed abroad at all powers that threaten our national existence and thereby the possibility of the coming socialist national state.
Socialism is possible only in a state that is united domestically and free internationally. The bourgeois and Marxism are responsible for failing to reach both goals, domestic unity and international freedom. No matter how national and social these two forces present themselves, they are the sworn enemies of a socialist national state.
We must therefore break both groups politically. The lines of German socialism are sharp, and our path is clear.
We are against the political bourgeois, and for genuine nationalism!
We are against Marxism, but for true socialism!
We are for the first German national state of a socialist nature!
We are for the National Socialist German Workers Party!"
People are attracted to anti-Semitism because they are weak minded. Its the same thing you see with the jihadists. When you are a failure, it is easier to accept that it is someone else's fault or a grand conspiracy, than it is to assume responsibility.

Most Jews in the USA fled opression from the pale of settlement. There were frequent acts of random violence called pogroms. Jews were drafted into the Czars army for 17 year terms with no vacation . Some like my great grandfather severed his index finger and fled for their lives to the unkown land America.
There were various reactions to this brutal world. Some became mystics and today are known as Chasidic. There was early zionism which was a left movement that soughtto move away from the religion and be like any other nation. There were the militant Communists who sought to abo;lish national differences . At the heart most had a strict marxist hatred for Jews and those that practiced. There were plenty of Jews in name only amonst others but as I have stated before Communists by nature and in reality are natural traitors.
There were many divisions in the American Jewish community. Those on the far let look down upon those who practice the faith as primitives. I had a major fight with my exgirlfriends father when he called my brother ( the beloved Rav Roov) one of those people.
The Jewish far left in the USA like the rest of the commies take their orders from the party. Thus before the non agression pact they were prowar did a 180 and became pro peace. Yet still when Hitler betrayed his ally they did another 180. You can read about this mindless loyalty in Radosh or David Horowitz's biographies.
Stalin was killing Jewish artists and entertainers. The official response from the Jewish Comunists was to deny this reality. They sent Paul Robeson as their emisarry
and Robeson met with an artist who was his friend Feffer. Feffer told him the truth but like a good Comunists Robeson told the party line. Stalin died before he could implement his plan to add the Jews to the list of deported nations.
The official turning point where the left lost its collective mind was after the Six Day War. There was some hope that Israel would become a Cuba in the Middle East.
Moscow realized this wasn't going to happen and became even more antisemitc.
The lines and lies of 167 are basic Communist agitprop. I see them in NYC and recognize them immediately. I am not a conservative but a Scoop Jackson Cold war Democrat. There was no place for me as a dedicated Cold Warrior so I found my natural home as a Rudy Republican. I also am an American, Jew and proud liberal. Alas I am a Scoop Jackson type of liberal and do I belong in the party with the Progressive Causus, Ron Dellums and John Kerry.
The problem that many liberals have not dealt with is the Front Group issue. Does the Communist history of the National Lawyers Guild, ANSWER and Code Pink push people away.
If I go to your average peace protest and see Rep Nadler speak infront of a group of these types what am I to think ?
It is time for the Democrats to distance themselves. Howard Dean is off to a good start by denouncing the favorite Communist line that Israel is behind the Iraq war is anti semitic. Unfortunately, it was two years late .
Democrats and Liberals have to decide if they want to win elections or placate vocal extreemists. If it comes to a choice between Tom Hayden or Falwell I and most Americans will choose Falwell.For every vote these far left activists bring they cost the democrats three nationaly.
Ask yourself this if a social liberal like myself sees a problem then maybe there is a problem.

Thanks! You've added a lot to what I'm learning. All those years of being subjected to pc and outright falsehoods had me mixed up about some of these issues.
As I mentioned, I was listening to Timmerman's book; I retain only what my auditory brain will allow. Now that you, Beak, have mentioned it, I recall Timmerman's mentioning David Horowitz and the National Lawyers' Guild.
