More Murray Rothbard

I want to thank Michael Ezra of Harry's Place. When trying to grapple with the wacky world of Ron Paul one must look to the philosophy and writtings of Lew Rockwell and Murray Rothbard.

Michael Ezra cut and pastes a vile tract where Rothbard infers that Parents have a right to sell their children and that children have a right to run away. Writings like this are part and parcel of the morally obtuse world of Murray Rothbard.

the morally obtuse world of Murray Rothbard

I beg to differ, Beak. It is the morally obtuse world (well put!) of Libertarianism. The libertarian world view is an ethical/moral self-service outlet. Of course, some things they preach are right, but how a highly ethical (I think) writer like, for example, Ilana Mercer can swallow the entire world view hook line and sinker is beyond me.

I did cross words with Ilana Mercer at bad eagle about Murray Rothbard. I think she stated something about comparmentalization of some of his more odious concepts.

I wish a more traditional Liberterian
like Jason Pappas or Warren were around with a response.

I had elements of this discussion with him at AOW's site. In a natural state we differ in abilites
and forced equality is at the lowest common denominator and must always yield less for all except the selected followers or gatekeepers.

I was hoping the really embarassing
Rothbard had not become widely known
abroad. All nations have their scoundrels, but as an American Rothbard is a real nasty piece of work.

Ron Paul can be interesting sometimes on domestic issues, but on foreign policy he votes like Al Qaeda is slipping him a check.

And I strongly disagree with his proposal to strip Americans of citizenship if their parents are suspected of a Federal criminal offense. That's as anti-libertarian as you can get.

Ron Paul is very disturbing on some levels. I am somewhat convinced the closer we look at Rothbard the better we understand Paul.

I've got Ilana Mercer's blog on my blog roll, its called Barely A Blog. It's hard to believe she ever posted at Bad Eagle. Of course I'm not really that familiar with her, I discovered her blog and go there very very rarely.

Mercer was not a regular commenter. Yeagley interviewed her and she quoted Murray Rothbard. Rothbard is a disturbing fellow and in general when people start quoting him it calls for attention. In the case of Mercer she was clear that she was not
an advocate of his entire program.

In reality most of us are like this to some degree. We vary from archetypes and have a range of ideas.
