The evil Canada Goose is in Europe

NYC and NJ residents are plauged with an abundance of Canada Geese. Now Vermonters have a simple solution shoot them and serve them with shallots and white wine or whatever alcohol is handy. Imagine my surprise when I visited Jams blog Plant Porn and Pussycats and saw the pox of NYC is in the UK. Apparently they are in Sweden, Poland and Finland as well.

Alien or invasive species is a serious problem and they often displace local wildlife. I wasn't surprised to see Red Eared Sliders in the UK. The turtle has also invaded NYC and Hawaii. Part of the problem is irresponsible pet owners dump their pets in he wild and sometimes they get established. There are many reports of Burmese Pythons in the Everglades. Burmese Pythons are 16 feet long and cad consume a deer.

In the Chesapeak there was a scare caused by locals catching a snakehead fish native to China and the aquarium trade. These fsh are very sturdy and can survive extreemes. They also are tasty with granny smith apples if you can find the right resturant.

The python thing is sadly true. They come into peoples yards and eat pets and go after the deer. Everglades deer are a little smaller, so they are easy targets. One large specimen a few months ago died trying to eat a gator that was too big!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Not long ago, an idiot in my neighborhood turned loose his too-large-for-the-house giant iguana. It attacked a Chihuahau! The Chihuahua's owner shot the damned lizard. Then the so-called owner of the iguana sued his neighbor for shooting the iguana--for some $2500, I think. The law suit didn't fly because the Chihuahua was on its own porch at the time of the attack.

The above is not an urban legend!

Geese around her defecate all over everything. Swimming pools have a huge problem with goose poop. Sometimes I feel as if the geese are using my cars for target practice. Ick! The geese are here year-round now.

I am certain Jams now thinks I am a barbarian for wanting to eat a goose.

Nanc Smoked Goose that sounds interesting

The geese are always welcome in Brooklyn.

I love seeing them. A beautiful reminder of the perfection of Nature's clock.

The last time I was in Prospect Park I did not see any Canada Geese
so the locals may be eating them.

I remember seeing a Mute Swan and a young child crying out in Spanish Pato Pato. Sadly Pato is slang for something else, but it also means Duck. My girlfriend did not get that.

My waterfront up until recently was a major stopover for many migratory birds. Each year I would await their return. We had swans, cormorants, orioles, black birds, sea birds, sea gulls, pheasants, hawks, geese, morning doves, crows, ducks, starlings, blue jays, cardinals, and many I can't identify.

The development of the area has destroyed it. The birds rarely come now. Very sad. It is the end of an era. The monstrous high rise complexes approach.
