Lets pick a sample reading list for and Intro Lit course

My selections are based upon simplicity and imparting the joy of reading

1) The Tempest
2) The Hairy Ape
3) Moby Dick
4) The Grapes of Wrath
5) 1984 and Animal Farm as both are short.

Those are good choices. However, some "early readers" find Moby Dick to be a slog -- and not only because of the length.

Hmmm ... let's try to get as much scope as possible out of five.

1. Oedipus cycle:

Antigone
Oedipus the King
Oedipus at Colonus

2. Macbeth

3. Great Expectations

4. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

5. The Magic Mountain

Off topic....What the hell is THIS?

Duck,
I'm not sure that inexperienced readers are ready for the Oedipus cycle.

I do agree that Macbeth is a good option.

I thought Beak meant this as a college level world Lit survey.
