Is Herman Cain electable

The more I have listened to Herman Cain the more convinced I am that he is superior in ability to Perry and Romney. Either of the latter is clearly more preferable to Obama. I am still in the Santorum camp for now, but Cain is intriguing.

The nation is in a dire mess and we need a leader with vision to get us out of this. Cain unlike Obama is running on a specific platform and knows about jobs and performance. If he is elected there is a genuine possibility that 15 to 20 % of the black vote goes to Cain.

I am not convinced he is unelectable and if he survives the first few primaries his electability is as good or better than that of Romney and to a lesser extent Perry.

Every time Herman Cain starts ticking off his rote-remembered, numbered, and generic talking points I get this scene in my head.

Merely because of his skin color? That's a sorry reason to vote for any candidate, IMO.

Mr B

The guy in the video looks better than Obama. At least he has no problems with the second Amendment.

AOW

People tend to vote for members of their community. Obama got a huge turnout in the Black community and to a lesser extent the youth vote. Now that neither can find jobs I expect these numbers to drop.

Of course he isn't. Are you and the rest of you fringe right buddies paying any attention at all?

THE BIG REPUBLICAN MONEY WANTS CHRISTIE.

It's so freaking obvious that even you and the rest of the short bus crowd should get it. Christie is the whole package.

He freaking hates unions.
He freaking hates regulation.
He freaking hates progressive taxation.

That is the nominee these guys will have. Others have perceived flaws but Christie is the one they know they can get elected.

Read the tea leaves for once and quit opening your ignorant pie hole about antisemitism every second sentence and even a self hating Jew can learn something.

Funny Duncy didn't mention Israel or the Jews. However on cue Commies revert to form.

Christie like myself is a social liberal. He is to the left of McCain
on many issues and people like Mark Levin are not on his band wagon. He is better than Obama.

Anyone not named Ron Paul is better than Obama.

Ron Paul is better than Obama too, in fact, he's better than Christie. I have one and only one litmus test. Gun control. Anybody that is for it, I can't support. New Jersey has some of the most draconian gun laws in the country, and Christie supports them. If he's nominated, I might just stay home.

As if the gun control issue isn't enough, he also is a believer in global climate change and is moderate, at best, on illegal immigration and shariah islam. He supported the ground zero mosque, for example.

For the icing on the cake, at his speech at the Reagan Library, he spoke of the need to compromise with Democrats. As many of us know, compromise with Democrats usually amounts to them asking for twice as much as what they really want and then settling for everything they really do want, or pretty damn close to it.

Christie has been a good governor of New Jersey when it comes to fiscal issues and dealing with unions, and he needs to stay there and clean that state up. But he has no business running for national office, not with his overall governing philosophy. I also would expect him to appoint moderate judges, and that's something I just can't tolerate in a candidate.

Also, he's fat. I'm not kidding, a person who lets themselves go to that extent shows they have no self-control or discipline. Its doubtful he could make it through his first term without suffering a major coronary. The presidency is the most important job in the world, and the real downside to that is, it is the most stressful. Good health is of paramount importance, and you can't seriously look at that fat ass and even pretend he's healthy.

As for Herman Cain, he's not my first choice, but if he were to win the nomination, I would have zero problem supporting him and voting for him. My main concern with him is he's an elderly man who is a cancer survivor, and I worry about the possibility of remission due to the stressful nature of the job of president. Being President is more stressful than being the CEO of even a major corporation. You have to make life and death decisions on a regular basis. Words you utter can have unintended consequences even of a global nature.

When you get right down to it, the presidency has become two damn powerful and needs to be brought down a notch or two. Or three. IO don't think there's any one person who's really up for it. But somebody has to do it, and Cain is just as good as any of these other yahoos, and damn sure better than the Teleprompter Messiah.

Three pluses for Chris Christie. I'd jump on his bandwagon today if he pledged to name the AFL-CIO a terrorist organization.

But, he's too far left on guns and abortion. Not sure how much those issues are in play, but Christie's got your fellow leftists in the Tea Party bashing him instead of Mitt Romney.

He may be able to win over the Tea Party crowd if he promises to restore the money Obama cut out of their Medicare by raising taxes.

Pagsn

Gun Control is not the be all end all issue for me.

However, if any politician is more divorced from reality than Ron Paul I would like to see it. For those who point out Cynthia McKinney, I consider her a comedy act.

Mr B

Christie is pro gay marriage, that would be a Mr B deal breaker.

It would be interesting to see what
his ideas on foreign policy and health care reform are. These are unknowns at the moment.

Beak-

A person who supports gun control is openly pissing on the constitution. I don't care what kind of weasel words they use to try to legitimize their view, I don't care how they try to "interpret" the 2nd Amendment, if you can't trust a candidate on the 2nd Amendment, you can't trust them on anything else.

The fat jokes got to Chris Christie.

The Teabaggers are bound and determined to give us Romney.
