There used to be something called the American Dream. You get a proper education work hard and live right and a decent life is the reward. Job security is a thing of the past. Nepotism is worse than ever. Students graduate from Universities as debt slaves to an empty job market.
Even in the seventies there was the belief that better days are ahead. Maybe that was a product of youth. Perhaps it was the magic of the eighties. It was a time with a we can do ethos. Of course the sixties crowd was there resisting
true progress be it resisting Communism or building a robust economy at home.
